PRL Autoganzfeld

Research description

Data from the classic autoganzfeld series of experiments. This version of the database was prepared by Daryl J. Bem, who has released the data under an open data license. Former PRL employees Ephraim Schecter, Rick Berger and Mario Varvoglis have also given their consent to the release of the data, as has Richard Broughton, to whom Chuck Honotoron entrusted safekeeping of the data.

The experiments are described in detail in the following papers:

  • Honorton, C., Berger, R. E., Varvoglis, M. P., Quant, M., Derr, P., Schechter, E. I., & Ferrari, D. C. (1990). Psi communication in the ganzfeld: Experiments with an automated testing system and a comparison with a meta-analysis of earlier studies. The Journal of Parapsychology, 54(2), 99.
  • Schlitz, M. J., &h; Honorton, C. (1992). Ganzfeld psi performance within an artistically gifted population. Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research, 86, 83-98.

The work is also summarised here:

  • Bem, D. J., & Honorton, C. (1994). Does psi exist? Replicable evidence for an anomalous process of information transfer. Psychological Bulletin, 115(1), 4.
